With the World Cup only a few short months away, fans of their respective nations are starting to dream of glory and world domination. This year’s World Cup is seemingly wide open, with no clear-cut favorite to win it all. While most are picking Brazil to win because they’ll have the support of playing in their home nation, there are still many skilled squads in the tournament who have the ability to win it all. World Cups in South America have had the tendency to not be fairly receptive to European teams, as no squad from Europe has ever won the World’s crown in South America.

EA SPORTS is also celebrating the World Cup, albeit a few months early, with this week’s release of 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. While we don’t know who will hoist the world trophy in July, we did want to take some time to point out who we think the top squads are heading into the summer. These are the best teams to use in 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil while you wait for the real tournament to start in less than two months.

Belgium

5. Belgium

Belgium are a team that many are picking as their dark-horse to win it all in Brazil. A team that isn’t necessarily used to big expectations, Belgium is chalk-full of talent, youth and strength. While Belgium took a big shot to the gut with the announcement that their star striker – Christian Benteke would miss the tournament with a torn ACL, they still have the talent to make a serious run at the trophy.

In regards to the game, they have everything you need to be successful in a FIFA game. Strength in the back with Vincent Kompany and the midfield with Fellaini. The also have pace along the wing with Mirallas and Hazard. Belgium still has a striker as well with the in-form Everton loan star – Romelu Lukaku. Belgium has a choice of two excellent keepers too, with both Courtois and Mignolet who are both in the midst of leading their squads to the top of their club tables with Atletico Madrid and Liverpool respectively.

When you added up all the transfer fees of the current Belgian squad, they are worth €180 million, the third-most expensive national team in the world behind only Brazil and Portugal. This team is young but are beastly in FIFA World Cup Brazil, and are set to put on a show in June.

I agree that the Belgians will be a handful, should be the host vs Argentina in the finals.
