Forza Horizon 2’s Visuals Blow Away Other Titles

My jaw dropped after viewing this screenshot thread of Forza Horizon 2. The series has been known to produce great graphics, but Forza Horizon 2 is taking it to another level on Xbox One:

I encourage you to check out the thread above for more stunning images from the Forza community. After viewing the screenshots, I had to see what I could capture in the game. Here are my best screenshots of Forza Horizon 2 while cruising around Europe:

Forza Horizon 2‘s visuals blow away other titles on the market. However, will that still hold true when Project CARS, DRIVECLUB and The Crew release later this year?

Click here and let us know if you think Forza Horizon 2 will be the best looking racing game released in 2014. Also, make sure you click here to read our full review of Forza Horizon 2!

    it does look great.

      damn beautiful

  • Bilal Prince- Ali

those do look fantastic but are you talking about games JUST on Xbox One..? Because if you’re talking about games across all platforms all i can ask is have you seen #Deriveclub or nah..?

    • Kevin26385

I haven’t seen DriveClub in person so I can’t compare it!

      • mwalker

Driveclub is a bare bones game. Besides the visuals. Even then it’s a closed circuit racer. Once you play it you will realize how Horizon 2 could get such high praise while driveclub was once going to be free.

        • Josh

DC was never going to be completely free, just a basic mode to coax users into PS+. Don’t try to sell that game short. Both look fun. I like the idea of FH2 with the open world take on racing and I like the look of how realistic DC has become with its weather and scenery. Both will do well, lets stop feeding the fan boy fire and enjoy the games.

        • ImOnaDrugCalledSheen

DC was never going to be totally free nice try fanboy you need to educate yourself before commenting you obviously have no clue what your talking about. And since the whole point of this article is about visuals and has nothing to do with the type of racer it is DC still wins out regardless of your narrow minded fanboy opinion.

          • Failz

Enjoy your DLC packs, because your going to need it, those 50 cars don’t sound like a lot, especially no Japanese cars lol

          • andy

You are defending Forza and then bring up DLC packs??? What, like the €250 plus DLC packs for each Forza game since 3 and then making you buy most of them again for the next game? Listen to yourself for a sceond.

          • Ricoh123

Most dlc forza packs cost 5 dollars or less. They are for additional cars.

I’ve never paid anything extra for a forza dlc pack and I’ve not one felt like the game was incomplete.

If you want to start spreading fanboy gibberish, you should take a look at gt6 that offered one car, the mercedes for 150 dollars.

          • Jessika S.

On Forza 5 token cost of all cars in the game comes to 168993. If bought at simplest token value cost of 8000 per $100, that comes to $2200. You could probably bring it in a bit cheaper by buying the remaining balance with smaller amounts instead of the 8000 lot. If bought at the least value cost of 1250 per $20 that comes to $2700. Cheapest overall brings it to $1690 with 100 tokens per dollar.

Might be a bit cheaper now cause prices came down a bit, also the $49.99 pass only gets you discounts.

          • Ricoh123

            Rubbish.

Out of the couple of hundred cars in Forza 5,they can all be acquired extremely easily by simply playing the game. After each event you have enough tokens to purchase your next few cars for any other event you move on to.

There are some cars you can only get by purchasing dlc content, but the vast vast majority are already in the game. And you get access to all of these by simply playing the game.

You are describing a stupid situation where somebody could acquire every car without playing the game whatsoever.

Close to the most rediculous comment I’ve ever read.

          • Jessika S.

            “Rubbish” LOL!

            But I’m still right…
“You are describing a stupid situation where somebody could acquire every car all at once without playing the game whatsoever.”

            Get it together……

          • Ricoh123

            No. You’re not “right”.

Your logic is as stupid as me saying “gaming is unaffordable, because every game to ever exist costs over 10 million dollars”.

Nobody in their right mind would buy forza 5, never play it at all and spend real money on buying enough virtual currency to unlock every single car.

Forza 5 is designed to be played the same way as every other video game…..you play the game, progress and unlock things as you go along.

There is no hope for you if your brain can’t process logic as simple as this…..

          • Jessika S.

            I said:
“On Forza 5 token cost of all cars in the game comes to 168993. If bought at simplest token value cost of 8000 per $100, that comes to $2200. You Said:
“You are describing a stupid situation where somebody could acquire every car all at once without playing the game whatsoever.”

That’s all, I’m right.. as for you saying “gaming is unaffordable, because every game to ever exist costs over 10 million dollars” I never brought that up and I could care less. The FACT of the matter is, is that all games have DLC that cost more then the games themselves but you purchased a complete product (I never argued any different) and DLC is a choice. I love Forza I played Forza 5 till I got sick of it and now I’m on Forza Horizon 2 and I played it as much as I possibly can (I do Let’s Play Videos & Twitch live gaming sessions, that’s how I make money) but that still doesn’t change the fact that, that’s how much the DLC cost.

“There is no hope for you if your brain can’t process logic as simple as this…” LOL! that’s cute you think your being logical…

          • Ricoh123

You are right in describing a situation that applies to nobody.

You should learn to accept something i realised a long time ago….

Women are better at multitasking, men are better being logical.

Having a logical debate with you would be as frustrating for me as it would be with you trying to teach me to multitask.

The situation you describe applies to literally nobody. That’s why it is illogical to use it in a debate.

*waits to be accused of sexism, even though what i said is a fact of human evolution

          • Jessika S.

Then I truely feel sad for you because you aren’t good at either.

Not a woman so you can’t multitask (IDIOT) and you’re a man with a horrible sense and logic.

          • Ricoh123

Let me logically break down your line of thought.

            1. You totalled up the amount of real life money it would take to purchase enough virtual currency to obtain every car in forza 5 as soon as somebody bought the retail version of the game.

            2. The demograph of people that would do this are those that would like to…..

            a. Unlock every car instantly without playing the game

            b. Don’t want to race events to unlock cars (eg they don’t want to play the game)

Since it is a complete contradiction to say somebody would purchase forza 5 to play the game to not play the game, we can conclude there is not a single person on the planet to whom your sentences apply to.

And voila, we have one completely illogical debate that is utterly pointless.

          • Ken

So you copied a post from NeoGAF without quite understanding what was posted or how wrong they were; let’s break it down for you so it’s simple and easy for you to process:

Most of the cars included in this 168993 token cost are cars which came with the retail version of the game, as in already in the game, as in NOT DLC (got it so far?). You can buy those simply by playing the game as intended, earning credits and then spending those credits to buy cars. Now if you’re still confused and can’t find a rebuttal to copy from NeoGAF I suggest you turn off your PC and get some fresh air.

          • d0x360

Yes forza games have lots of dlc. You have a problem with more cars? Don’t buy them. Every forza game comes with TONS of cars without dlc and they give away dlc packs all the time.

Horizon has what? 250+ cars on day 1? Want more? They will make more. Don’t? Don’t buy them. Complaining about them adding dlc to games that already have hundreds of cars is silly. There is already tons of value in the game so the dlc adds to that value. Unlike other games where you get a small selection of vehicles and then have to keep buying more.

Driveclub got great gameplay impressions at E3 2014, Gamescom 2014, and the recent beta test.

            There
are tons of positive impressions of Driveclub’s gameplay readily
available on the internet yet people keep spreading FUD and blind hate
            about it.

            Driveclub
is channeling Project Gotham Racing, one of Xbox’s most beloved arcade
racers. Those games didn’t have any customization beyond paint jobs and
you know what? They were still amazing. It’s an arcade racer, different
from sim racers, it doesn’t necessarily need fine tuning customizations.
            Not inherently better or worse.

Closed and open world racers are different experiences, not inherently better or worse than one another.

            Weather
is confirmed free in a patch soon after launch. It was demoed in-game
to journalists at E3 2014 and demoed at Gamescom 2014, it’s basically
            finished.

Framerate is confirmed locked at 30 and the game engine updates faster than the framerate for better controller response.

Many next gen games were delayed not just Driveclub. Only blind fanboys single it out.

            The
PS+ Version of Driveclub includes all game modes, the Platinum trophy,
online play, 11 tracks, and 10 cars. It’s being offered free to PS+
users at launch. It’s more than “a demo”. Writing on the PlayStation
Blog, manager Fred Dutton confirmed “DriveClub will be in addition to
your regular PlayStation Plus allocation,” he elaborated in response to a
            fan.

Driveclub PS+ Edition doesn’t take up a slot on October
2014 PS+ games, you still get two free PS4 games in addition to
            Driveclub.

The PS+ Version of Driveclub includes all game modes,
the Platinum trophy, online play, 11 tracks, and 10 cars. It’s being
offered free to PS+ users at launch. It has far more features than a
            demo.

Nobody is offering full retail AAA games on PS+ at launch.
Is anyone else offering anything remotely approaching Driveclub PS+
Edition, basically giving away a good portion of the game? No, it’s
unprecedented for an AAA retail game and a good thing.

            Driveclub beta tester impressions:

            “Gameplay
really is fantastic. I’ve played a lot of racing games. From Burnout,
PGR, Need For Speed series, Motorstorm, Gran Turismo, Forza (though not
the Horizon series) and more. The car handling feels semi realistic, so a
mix or realism and PGR style arcade, though I think it leans more
            towards realism. Plenty of content/events/challenges.

            Graphically
it is the best racing game I’ve played (haven’t played PC racing
games). At first I didn’t think it looked that great, but then you keep
racing and it just hits you. It’s stunning, and just feels so rich. The
environments just feel like they’ve had so much attention and it really
brings the races to life. I haven’t really experienced this before, it’s
just very dense. Motion blur is really well implemented, it doesn’t
            feel distracting at all.”

Forza and Driveclub are both good racing games for different reasons, it’s only fanboys blindly hating one or the other.

Project Cars has “up to 100 cars”, or about the same number as Driveclub.

Interview with Project Cars devs. Maybe you should take their answer?

“Ravi Sinha: How many cars and tracks are you planning to have in the final game? Do you have some biggies included?

            Andy
Tudor: Journalists ? please stop asking this question! How many guns
are there in Call of Duty: Ghosts compared to Battlefield 4? How many
different enemy types are there in Dead Rising 3 compared to Ryse?

            Project
CARS covers a wide range of motorsport types ? from karts to stock cars
to everyday road cars to the kind of supercars you see on Top Gear, to
GT, formula racers, and prototypes. So we aim to be close to a hundred
cars to choose from across that huge variety but we never start a
project with a mindset of “Let’s add as many as we can” since five
variations of the same car don’t necessarily make a better game in our
            opinion.”

Evo Studios is putting a ton of effort into each of
their cars trying to recreate them accurately in modeling, paint layers,
            reflections, sound, etc.

“How customisable will the weather be?
Alex Perkins: We want you to be able to create epic races that you want
to share with your friends because they took your breath away. Just like
we do with time of day, skies and time lapse speed, we’re going to add
lots of options for you to be able to adjust how the weather plays out
in your challenges. We don’t want to just offer fixed settings for
“rain” or “snow”, we want it to be dynamic and exciting. We’re still
working on how best to present this to you and we’ll show more closer to
            launch.”a,

You must think Forza 5, the SIXTH game in the series must I remind you after only 8 years, is the biggest pile of shit ever content wise then.

          • PachterStation

Forza 5 was a shocking game in terms of content. How Microsoft justified charging full price for a racer with hardly any tracks and cars, then had the cheek to charge for DLC tracks etc. I bet most people who bought it didn’t realise. The biggest skank this gen me thinks.

          • d0x360

Shocking? Unlike Sony Microsoft was willing to fill the game with subpar low resolution content.

They actually remade every single car and track to meet the new standard of visuals these consoles offer. Sorry but I’d rather have less cars and all of them look amazing then have 800 cars that looks like garbage and then 200 good looking ones.

Apparently, the single player mode doesn’t take long to complete. As for tracks, more will come via paid DLC. Will be the same case with Project Cars. Evening Mario Kart 8 has gone down the paid DLC route (for tracks). Looking at Forza 5, racing games are coming with a few tracks which I think is now a trend.

        • Stickz

So you are downplaying a game, based on what kind of game it is. GOOD JOB SON!

FH2 and DC are different types of racers and ur retarded if u downplay either one based on the design choise what type of racer it is.If you go open world, you will sacrifice (some) power for the sake of having a realistic open world. If you go Driveclub you will focus more on solely racing and thus not having to sacrifice power for an ‘open world’. It’s clear that even though they are both racers they took a different direction which is a good thing.

I bet you also compare Mario Kart to Gran Turismo?

          • mwalker

Nope. I know they are different games. However, DC had what? 60 cars ? And a limited amount of tracks. H2 has 200+ cars and a “drive anywhere track. In my opinion H2 gets my money. If DC was coming out later I would buy both.

            Driveclub
is channeling Project Gotham Racing, one of Xbox’s most beloved arcade

      • Thad Vanity

“Forza Horizon 2’s Visuals Blow Away Other Titles” And yet that’s your title. Faux objectivity it is then….

        • Kevin26385

This, “Forza Horizon 2‘s visuals blow away other titles on the market. However, will that still hold true when Project CARS, DRIVECLUB and The Crew release later this year?” was too long of a title 😉

      • Bilal Prince- Ali

oh thats cools, not saying i disagree btw, i REALLY do think FH2 is a beautiful game!

    • Failz

FH2 is the best looking as of todays racing games across all platforms. DC isn’t out yet and DC will look better at a cost of content and linearness. Same goes with Project Cars and The Crew. Cant compare a game that’s out to a game that’s not released.

      • ImOnaDrugCalledSheen

Just like FH2 has suffered visually due to its open world nature, see how that works in reverse too.

        • Failz

Except I agree. Openworld games use a lot more processing power and Playground games were focusing on bringing content and features to the gamer while still offering great visuals. They wont be the best but FH2 will no doubt be one of the best when it comes to other things.

      • Bilal Prince- Ali

yeah thats true to some extent, but Dc has gone gold, meaning its out withing a very short period of time, so comparing a released game to a game thats gone gold is easily justifiable, and you cant really sayd that DC’s graphics come at a cost of linearness, because it being a track based racer was the intention from the beginning, its a design choice not a limitation and in this modern day i prefer track based racers anyways, in terms of content i dont see a ‘DC 2’ coming out any time soon so you ebtter believe the game will have support through its life cycle, FH is now officially a franchise so expect another game within 2 years perhaps, the vision of what the game should be is why you cant judge where a game lacks or excels because if its meant to be then its simply meant to be, but from a purely graphical standpoint DC is deffo the more photorealistic one with ease! but FH is 100% the more beautiful of the two.

  • lluksavahc

most of these screens appear to have a photo filter any of them with out one you can’t really tell how the actual game looks with the filters.

    • andy

Its from the photo mode. Grant Turismo 4 had one of these too and could output the images onto a USB stick for you in very hi res than the PS2 could handle too. Driveclub untouched photos are even more stunning than these. 🙂

      • Kevin26385

That’s correct. I used the in game photo mode on some of the shots to change it up!

  • 大王 アレクサンダー

    Project CARS, Driveclub, The Crew.

    • Da GeeZ

Project Cars should be great, it’s looking fantastic.
The Crew is also looking great but very arcade-like.
Driveclub is visually impressive but severely lacks features, in both departments of tracks and cars. Even though it’s called ‘Drive Club’ it’s drive clubs are limited to 6 players, not so much a club, but a small clique of friends!!!
1000 member Drive Clubs in Forza against 6 member ‘clubs’ in ‘Drive Club’… Forza Horizon 2 beats ‘Drive Club’ at it’s own game.

      • ImOnaDrugCalledSheen

That’s funny how the amount of cars makes a difference now, GT has well over a thousand and you fanboys still say it sucks, the volume of cars doesn’t make a game good and that’s pretty obvious in the case of Forza.

        • Failz

The volume of real cars compared to the volume of 500 of the same car with different badges. GT has been well criticized for over using the same cars over and over again. Play FM4 and find out what a true racing game is.

          • asscrack

I own FM4 and a played FM5 and the series still not a true racing game

Driveclub was upgraded from earlier alpha/beta gameplay footage, not downgraded.

Normal, unbiased gamers who played Driveclub at E3 2014, Gamescom 2014, the beta test, and leaked early retail copies have been giving great impressions so far.

Driveclub is channeling Project Gotham Racing, one of Xbox’s most beloved arcade racers. Those games didn’t have any customization beyond paint jobs and you know what? They were still amazing. It’s an arcade racer, different from sim racers, it doesn’t necessarily need fine tuning customizations. Not inherently better or worse.

Driveclub has the technically superior visuals to current Xbox racing games as PS4’s hardware is stronger and developers are able to push it farther. Unbiased, reasonable gamers think Driveclub has the superior looking visuals which makes sense running on more powerful hardware.

Closed and open world racers are different experiences, not inherently better or worse than one another.

Weather is confirmed free in a patch soon after launch. It was demoed in-game to journalists at E3 2014 and demoed at Gamescom 2014, it’s basically finished.

Framerate is confirmed locked at 30 and the game engine updates faster than the framerate for better controller response.

Many next gen games were delayed not just Driveclub. Only blind fanboys single it out.

The PS+ Version of Driveclub includes all game modes, the Platinum trophy, online play, 11 tracks, and 10 cars. It’s being offered free to PS+ users at launch. It’s more than “a demo”. Writing on the PlayStation Blog, manager Fred Dutton confirmed “DriveClub will be in addition to your regular PlayStation Plus allocation,” he elaborated in response to a fan.

Driveclub PS+ Edition doesn’t take up a slot on October 2014 PS+ games, you still get two free PS4 games in addition to Driveclub.

The PS+ Version of Driveclub includes all game modes, the Platinum trophy, online play, 11 tracks, and 10 cars. It’s being offered free to PS+ users at launch. It has far more features than a demo.

Nobody is offering full retail AAA games on PS+ at launch. Is anyone else offering anything remotely approaching Driveclub PS+ Edition, basically giving away a good portion of the game? No, it’s unprecedented for an AAA retail game and a good thing.

        Driveclub beta tester impressions:

“Gameplay really is fantastic. I’ve played a lot of racing games. From Burnout, PGR, Need For Speed series, Motorstorm, Gran Turismo, Forza (though not the Horizon series) and more. The car handling feels semi realistic, so a mix or realism and PGR style arcade, though I think it leans more towards realism. Plenty of content/events/challenges.

Graphically it is the best racing game I’ve played (haven’t played PC racing games). At first I didn’t think it looked that great, but then you keep racing and it just hits you. It’s stunning, and just feels so rich. The environments just feel like they’ve had so much attention and it really brings the races to life. I haven’t really experienced this before, it’s just very dense. Motion blur is really well implemented, it doesn’t feel distracting at all.”

Forza and Driveclub are both good racing games for different reasons, it’s only fanboys blindly hating one or the other.

Driveclub gameplay footage was upgraded from earlier beta footage, not downgraded.

Search for Drive Club Timelapse Chili Audi R8 for early beta gameplay footage. The launch footage looks better than the older beta and alpha footage.

Interview with Project Cars devs. “Ravi Sinha: How many cars and tracks are you planning to have in the final game? Do you have some biggies included?

Andy Tudor: Journalists ? please stop asking this question! How many guns are there in Call of Duty: Ghosts compared to Battlefield 4? How many different enemy types are there in Dead Rising 3 compared to Ryse?

Project CARS covers a wide range of motorsport types ? from karts to stock cars to everyday road cars to the kind of supercars you see on Top Gear, to GT, formula racers, and prototypes. So we aim to be close to a hundred cars to choose from across that huge variety but we never start a project with a mindset of “Let’s add as many as we can” since five variations of the same car don’t necessarily make a better game in our opinion.”

Evo Studios is putting a ton of effort into each of their cars trying to recreate them accurately in modeling, paint layers, reflections, sound, etc.

“How customisable will the weather be? Alex Perkins: We want you to be able to create epic races that you want to share with your friends because they took your breath away. Evo Studios is putting a ton of effort into each of their cars trying to recreate them accurately in modeling, paint layers, reflections, sound, etc.

Driveclub is a social network based arcade racer that doesn’t need hundreds of cars to be fun or enjoyable. Same with Project Gotham Racing and other well regarded arcade racing games.

Blind fanboys are lumping all racing games into one category and declaring one is better than the other, screaming about “content”, car tuning, sim physics, and open world racers being objectively better.

The truth is there are a variety of racing game types and some people like arcade racers more than sims, or track racers more than open world, and they can still be very fun games.

Dozens of next gen games have been delayed but Driveclub gets singled out only because it’s a Playstation exclusive.

  • Da GeeZ

Forza Horiizon 2 has just nailed it. Absolutely superb visuals. But here’s the thing, a driving game isn’t just about visuals, it’s about the gameplay, singleplayer and multiplayer, and the underlying ethos that generates a massive list of features that come with a driving game. Forza Horizon 2 is absolutely jampacked with many varied gameplay modes just single player. The multiplayer is near seamlessly integrated into the single player experience. There’s a generous list of features, 1000 member drive clubs, an industry leading livery system(if you’ve never played a Forza game you need to check out how brilliant this set of tools is), great photomode, rewards system that gives credits and in game cars that spans the Forza series, innovative Drivatar system, Forza Vista mode, extensive tuning options, 7 radio stations etc.
There is no other driving game that can match the gameplay features of Forza Horzon 2.

    • Stickz

did you get paid to post this?
This looks exactly like some pr bullcrap written by a company to put on the back of the box. (not saying Forza 2 is a bad game)

      • d0x360

Everything he wrote is true so does it matter lol? Does anyone who really enjoys a game and talks about the experience and why they like it automatically labeled a shill these days? Seems that way.

Hell the other day i got call a great many things all because I had the gall to ask if the ps4 version of shadow of mordor had any screen tearing. I wanted to know because I hate tear so I’d buy the x1 version at a locked 30 over am unlocked ps4 version that hit 60. Turned out there was no tear and I bought the ps4 version…but that made me a horrible xbot fanboy for asking.

        • HOW DARE YOU ASK LEGITIMATE QUESTIONS! Don’t you know this is the internet!? You have to pick a side and stick to it! No room for doubting the almighty [insert company name here]!

          – . – I swear fanboys…

          • d0x360

Yea it drives me crazy. I love talking about games but if you make a positive comment about one your a fanboy if you make a negative comment your a fanboy.

I bought both of the damn things on day 1 because I love playing games. Having questions or criticism doesn’t make you a fanboy.

Its cool though usually when someone accuses me of such I give them my xbl or PS+ username so they can just look at the game list themselves. That usually shuts them up.

          • XD Yeah, that’s one way to do it. I recently had to dig out every gaming platform that’s in my house and pose them all in a picture to get people to shut up… It was quite impressive (if I do say so myself).

We all have our preferences, but that doesn’t make us fanboys. I wish people could be more civil.

          • d0x360

lol I wouldn’t go that far unless I was doing it for something else. I figure the username can show them everything they need to know

          • lol Well, the ‘accuser’ had been pestering me for quite a while… Figure’d I’d settle it once and for all. ;D

          • d0x360

Can’t fault yah really. Fanboy can have some really negative connotations.

          • Stickz

why do you even care what all the other people that you dont know and never will think of a comment you made on the internet…

          • d0x360

Why do you care to ask? Giving someone a user name is pretty simple.

Fanboys derail conversations. If I’m having a conversation and some one hops in just to insult the people talking should I not care? Should I not care when they misrepresented something?

Apparently we all care. We are talking about it. If YOU didn’t care you wouldn’t have made the comment in the first place.

        • Stickz

did i ever say it isnt true? I am just saying the way he describes it just looks like how pr people would describe their own game and promote it.

maybe you should take the interwebz less serious

          • d0x360

Yes I take it super serious. I was 100% dedicated for the whole 30 seconds it took to type that out.

      • Kevin26385

        I wish haha

This is an opinion piece. As I stated above, I think this game blows away any other title on the market.

We will have to wait and see to find out how Projects CARS, The Crew and DRIVECLUB compare!

        • kenwonobi basurto

We can already compare the two of Driveclub and Forza from many videos. Driveclub visually was already much better looking in all those videos. In terms of graphics at least. I dont know about gameplay.

          • Kevin26385

I prefer to compare games by seeing them in-person when they are final!

        • Stickz

ehhh dude, i didn’t mean the article :p

          I was replying to d0x360 comment -.-

          • Kevin26385

            My fault!

    • If there’s one feature that can’t be understated enough, it’s the Drivatar system. I played Motorsport 5 a few weekends back when it was free, and that was easily the #1 thing I enjoyed about the game. I was in a party talking to my friends, and because of the Drivatar system, it actually felt like I was playing with them instead of simply talking to them.

Sure, it doesn’t replace the thrill of actually playing with your friends, but it does a phenomenal job replicating the feel for a single-player experience.

      • d0x360

Yea its a cool feature and they are a lot better than normal AI. They really do behave like the person they are emulating.

The original forza had drivatars you could train and they could then race for you. It was an interesting feature that sorta worked but nobody used. Once they improved the system in forza 5 and started using it for opponents it really hit a stride. It makes playing other racing games harder because the AI is usually so devoid of…spirit. Its a feature other racing games would benefit from doing. Most modern racing games have copied the basic forza formula anyways so why not take that too.

These days they all have the driving line with brake points etc, they have the assists system with braking and turning, they usually ape the online components that debuted in forza 2.

    • kenwonobi basurto

      Sounds like an ad.

    • none of your business

WOW dude, you are a hardcore fanboy to type all that just to convince others

    • Convergence87

It looks cartoony and like those android games

    • Delfy Nunez

Took the words out of my mouth, FH2 is easily the best racing game this year, I’ve been playing it for 6+ hours a day ever since it came out, not playing it for more because of work, its just pure fun, I can’t remember when was the last time that I played a game for so many hours a day nonstop, it has everything from amazing graphics to amazing gameplay. I agree with Eurogamer on this

“It’s going to be a busy season for racing games, with sim hopeful
Project Cars, ambitious online “CarPG” The Crew and the social
score-attack of DriveClub all jostling for attention. Horizon 2 sets an
intimidatingly high bar for those games to meet on every front, but in
one aspect it seems unbeatable. I can’t imagine any of them are going to
      feel this happy.”

PLG and Turn10 outdid themselves on this one.

    • ImOnaDrugCalledSheen

Never played a single Forza game, they look boring, much better racing games to enjoy out there, you can save your pity for those who need it.

      • Failz

If Forza is boring then so is GT and Project Cars since they all play the same lol I pity you. But its ok because I bet your the type of gamer who loves LBP and Knack. When your older you can play with the big boys.

        • demfax

Stop spreading fanboy lies, hatred, and FUD, it accomplishes nothing. It’s not healthy to hate pieces of plastic and people who like playing video games on them. It’s sad that you hate good video games for being on the wrong piece of plastic

PS4 has many great games that gamers love. That’s why it’s 11+ million in sales and growing. Sony’s large number of well funded 1st parties will ensure PS4 has a ton of great AAA exclusives, as many or more than PS3.

1st/2nd party studios include Japan Studio, Polyphony Digital, Naughty Dog, SCE Bend, SCE San Diego, SCE Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, Pixel Opus, Evolution Studios, Guerrilla Games, Guerrilla Cambridge, SCE London, Media Molecule, Ready at Dawn, Quantic Dream, etc. Sony’s 1st party studios are working on several unannounced AAA PS4 games. Expect big announcements in 2015.

According to listwar PS4 has 123 games right now. PS4/Sony exclusives 2015: The Order: 1886, Bloodborne, Ratchet & Clank Redux, Uncharted 4, Tearaway Unfolded, Until Dawn, Persona 5, more.

PS4 has many features including media with more on the way in firmware 2.0. PS4 has plenty of support from Sony and developers.

PSN is hugely improved and Sony is continually investing more into it. PSN handled the Destiny launch just fine.

Both Forza and Driveclub are good racing games, it’s only fanboys blindly hating one or the other.

PS4 could easily handle Forza Horizon 2 and upgrade the graphics due to PS4’s more powerful hardware. Driveclub would have to be downgraded to run on Xbox.

There will be no parity if PS4’s stronger hardware is being pushed. In essentially every way, the PS4’s hardware is more powerful than the XBO’s. If they’re the same resolution, PS4 will have a framerate or visual effects advantage, or its stronger hardware isn’t being pushed.

Factual PS4 Hardware Advantages: +6 CUs, +540 GFlops (40% greater) or more (1.3TF to 1.84TF), +16 ROPs, +6 ACEs/CQs, better GPGPU support (volatile bit and onion+ gpu cache bypass bus), better performing CPU, faster unified memory, and less OS overhead.

No amount of API updates is going to make up for that hardware gap.

Exclusively 1080p 60 FPS console games on PS4: MGS V, CoD Ghosts, FFXIV, Tomb Raider, MLB The Show 14, Resogun, Trials Fusion, Diablo 3 (higher framerate), Project Cars, Metro Redux, TLOU Remastered, more.

Sony’s ICE team, Naughty Dog, and Santa Monica Studios will fully utilize PS4’s stronger hardware, so it will stay ahead in graphics performance.

Driveclub, The Order, Uncharted 4, etc. are technically superior as they run on more powerful hardware. Normal, unbiased, sane people recognize PS4 exclusive games look better, which makes sense given they’re running on more powerful hardware.

PS4 is selling on price/performance, better PR and global appeal, long term 1st party support, large number of 1st party studios, more total games and dev support including Japanese and indie devs, wider variety of games, improved PSN since the PS3 days, and PS+ value. It’s seen as the best console for multiplatform games.

All 3 consoles have good exclusive games, and pros and cons, it’s only fanboys blindly hating one or the other.

As expected by anyone knowledgeable and sane, tier 2 launches are doing almost nothing for Xbox sales. It’s sad this is the result after 10+ months of “wait for Xbox to launch in more countries” from fanboys. Some big plates of crow are ready to be served.

PS4 and Xbox sales can be compared right now and PS4 is outselling Xbox more than 2:1. PS4 will outsell Xbox in China like every other country on the planet, and Xbox sales in China will do little. PS4 is keeping its 1st place in global sales.

Sony is making a profit on PS4 hardware, the gaming division is well funded, profitable and in an overall net profit. Sony is not broke or going bankrupt.

Sony has been good about honesty with the PS4 for the most part. They have much better PR this gen than PS3, that’s one reason it’s selling so well. No lies were made selling Destiny, it’s a good game that is selling well.

    • andy

I plan on not ever buying an Xbox console even if one of them came down to €20 in price, if that is what you mean. Feel sorry for me for ignoring Xbone, PLEASE ^_^

    • PachterStation

Surely as a PC owner, it’s worth owning a One or PS4?……

  • ImOnaDrugCalledSheen

“on the market” being the key point here. Get ready to loose that one to DC upon its release.

  • andy

Played the demo. The visuals do not come even close to “blowing away” anything. Of course this is a PlayStation gamer here so I have very high standards, especially after 7 years of consistently the best looking exclusives last gen.

  • PachterStation

Surprised this came out on the 360. Horizon still looks ace and I bet Horizon 2 looks the same. I suppose the quality of your TV adds to the graphics quality. Horizon on my TV, it looks like it’s running on the One. But the difference between Forza 4 on the 360 to Forza 5 on the One, there’s not much in it. Not played Horizon 2 yet, but I bet there’s not much in it between the 2 versions. I don’t think it’s worth a launch purchase, so will wait until it drops in price.

  • Ricoh123

If only Phil Spencer had been in charge of development instead of Don Mattrick things would have been different.

Don Mattrick learnt nothing from the ps3 “hard to develop for” situation.

The xbone has the secret sauce, proven by this gorgeous game, but it’s so well hidden that developers struggle to find it.

    • demfax

Stop drinking the misterxmedia kool-aid. You’re wrong.

PS3 was slightly more powerful than 360 when coded for properly. See Uncharted 3, God of War 3, and The Last of Us.

PS4 is both more powerful and easier to code for.

It seems most people are ignoring attempts to downplay PS4’s stronger hardware and buying PS4s anyway. Sorry. Consumers decide what’s important and they disagree with you 2:1.

PS4’s GPU still has about 40% more raw teraflops than Xbox (1.31TF to 1.84TF) for rendering, which is about the percent of pixels between 900p and 1080p. On top of other things like memory and GPGPU.

Anyone with technical knowledge knew PS4’s game graphics performance would be better for the entire generation as soon as the specs were official. That was well over a year ago.

Every console or gaming device has a power budget that can be put towards resolution, framerate, or visual effects. PS4 has a higher total budget than Xbox, and good PCs have an even higher budget.

LOL! Looks like Hot Wheels Racing
    Zero Realism!

RIP DriveClub. Paupergame that even fails to impress after a year of delays.
$0N¥ = lies, overhype and underdeliver.

    • Jessika S.

I picked up Forza Horizon 2 it’s great and can’t stop playing it, as for DriveClub I’m still waiting on the final product so that I can judge for my self. I love driving games so the more the merrier.

      • d0x360

I’m eagerly awaiting the PS+ version so I can try it out. I haven’t liked any of evolutions past games so I’m skeptical. I don’t generally go for a lot of Sony exclusives as IMO the more pretty a Sony game the worse or less creative the gameplay is.

        • asscrack

Yeah so Uncharted was bunch of crap right? You make me wonder if you actually played any Ps exclusive at all

          • d0x360

Oh good god. Did I say every single exclusive? No I didn’t and no I don’t like uncharted. It’s boring. The last of us is good though and by all means go ahead and look at my trophies. Psn username is d0x360.

You make me wonder things too. Enjoy.

          • asscrack

You can have a psn doesn’t mean you are not a fanboy. Seen too many of your comments you xbot fanboy

          • d0x360

Yes I bought a ps4 and games for it because I’m a fanboy of the Xbox. A FANBOY of the Xbox spent $400 on ps4…because?

            Keep dreaming kiddo.

          • asscrack

so you don’t look like a fanboy? haha you replied shows I’m right

          • d0x360

Tell me, why do I look like a fanboy? Is it because I posted positive comments about an Xbox game in an article about an Xbox game?

I’m really pretty curious how you arrived at this conclusion that I’m a ps4 owning Xbox fanboy.

          • asscrack

actually on the forza article you bash drive club, and on a few comments you bash ps exclusives

          • d0x360

Bash drive club? Oh so having some concerns about a game makes me a fanboy…OK.

Guess nobody should ever question whether a game will be good and just buy it!

As for PS exclusives my comment was my opinion and its mostly true FOR ME. There are also exclusives I really enjoy. Last of us, gran turismo, metal gear solid, god of war and many others.

But you caught me…I’m a fanboy. I bought my ps3, and ps4 so I could yell at them while I played on the Xbox.

Oh crap I bought shadow of mordor for ps4 yesterday… I guess I’ll never get to play it.

          • asscrack

So you concern of a game you have not played? i swear a few comment back you said Last of us was okay. Fair enough you opinion is for yourself but no need to bash those crazy fanboys making comments about FH2

          • d0x360

Bash what comments about horizon… What are you talking about?

Unlike you I haven’t bashed anyone for anything.

          • asscrack

Actually in the comment above you mention the dlc and content. The first thing you said to the guy was sony making subpar products

          • d0x360

I was talking about Sony using ps2 car models in gran turismo on ps3. Is that not subpar?

The entire gt community was up in arms about it and worse still Sony said they were going to use ps2 and ps3 models in the ps4 gran turismo. Hence the comment about having less cars at high quality is better than having hundreds of poor quality cars. Omg the horror. How could I say such a terrible thing! Surely I’m a fanboy for being disappointed that one of my fav series since the original PlayStation has been half assed for the past 6+ years. How dare I want Sony to make it better how dare I!?

Jesus dude if anyone is the fanboy here its you. You know its OK to criticize something. It doesn’t make you a fanboy.

          • asscrack

if you played the forza 4 then you know how shitty the engine bay was for most cars during in game racing. True some of the gt model looks sub par but they do not overcharge the cars like forza did as dlc.

          • d0x360

The engine bay? Do you often look inside the engine bay while racing?
Omg they charge for dlc!? Who doesn’t? Don’t buy it then. Its $5 for car packs. It takes months for them to make cars between laser scanning them, recording audio at tracks or on dynos, weeks to build them and play test them but Yea I guess they don’t deserve to be paid for that very expensive process how silly of me.

Instead they should take the game models from forza 1 on the original Xbox and just stick them in forza 5 like Sony did with gt6. Looks great!!

When you actually come up with a decent argument for something let me know and we can have an actual conversation but I’m afraid its gonna be a few Years before you mature enough to grow out of this blatant fanboy bs. I’ll be waiting in the real world where not everything is perfect and things cost money.

          • asscrack

HAHAHA OKAY whatever you say. we just have to agree to disagree then

          • d0x360

You realize that by disagreeing with me you are saying its OK for a company to use 15 year old art assets in a modern generation game right? That’s OK with you? Crappy low res assets running alongside good looking HD assets. You want ps1&2 visual quality in your ps4 games?

You must be a simple person that’s incredibly easy to please.

          • asscrack

so i see that you are one of those that always think they are right. I might be a simple person when it comes to video games because i don’t spend too much time on toys

          • asscrack

Looks like i misjudged you by calling you a fanboy. If its okay i would like to apologize

          • asscrack

so does it feel better about yourself to call others mature or not?

          • d0x360

No it actually makes me feel quite bad that you are so immature. I want better things for you. I want better things for everyone. Does it make you feel better to call people liars and fanboys?

          • asscrack

so anyone doesn’t agree with you is immature. I didn’t call you a liar but fanboy at heart then yes.

          • d0x360

No I don’t care if you disagree with me. You’re immature because your act immature.

            Disagree all you want.

          • asscrack

okay cool but neither is your above comments mature

          • d0x360

Let me ask you a question. When you start off a conversation with an insult is that a mature thing to do?

Put yourself in my shoes. First interaction is an insult. Obviously I’m either going to ignore it or try to show you I’m not a fanboy.

I went with the later. Then you called me a fanboy again so I’m immediately put on both the offensive and defensive in regards to my attitude.

Now if you were me would you think the person who started in was acting in a mature manner?

I’ll talk about games with anyone. Everyone has opinions and they don’t always match up. That’s fine but to call someone a fanboy is to call them many things rolled into 1 word. Things like a fool & liar.

Who likes to be called a fanboy? I play games to have fun. Yes i have my own tastes but I really don’t care where I play nor do I want to argue with anyone about it.. But I certainly will.

If your apologies are genuine then I happily accept and I apologize as well as your action would not be that of someone who is immature.

Just understand that someone can be disappointed in a console or a whole ton of games and still love whatever system it is. Im constantly criticizing Nintendo for their handling of the wiiu but I still enjoy it and play it all the time. Snap judgment is easy I’m guilty of it too and so is everyone else ever but when it comes to things like gaming with its near infinite diversity you gotta try to be a little more open minded about it. Rushing to judgment is so easy especially since we care about it so much.

          • asscrack

the DLC are overprice for piece of crap. If i pay for something it better be worth my money. It just showed how low quality crap turn 10 been putting out for money

Driveclub got great gameplay impressions at E3 2014, Gamescom 2014, and the recent beta test.

There are tons of positive impressions of Driveclub’s gameplay readily available on the internet yet people keep spreading FUD and blind hate about it.

Project Cars has “up to 100 cars”, or about the same number as Driveclub.

Interview with Project Cars devs. Maybe you should take their answer?

“Ravi Sinha: How many cars and tracks are you planning to have in the final game? Do you have some biggies included?

Just like we do with time of day, skies and time lapse speed, we’re going to add lots of options for you to be able to adjust how the weather plays out in your challenges. We don’t want to just offer fixed settings for “rain” or “snow”, we want it to be dynamic and exciting. We’re still working on how best to present this to you and we’ll show more closer to launch.”

Hell shill, I don’t care what you have to say about anything nor will I ever read anything you post so don’t bother.

I’m buying drive club but I’m skeptical on how good it will be if that makes me a terrible person OH WELL

You are sick for upvoting that demented, lying, pure EVIL microsoft fanboy shill human waste Lionheart.

That thing uses the disqus names Death Dealer and Lionheart. It has been plaguing disqus for years. As you can see, it isn’t above using outright murder and tragedy to fuel its deranged hatred of pieces of plastic and anyone who likes PS.

Ironically it lives in the Netherlands. So far it hasn’t reconciled its deranged cognitive dissonance in the Netherlands being treated like Tier 2 Trash by MS, yet constantly screaming lies and blind hatred about Sony.

It also constantly spams Netherlands Dutch message boards with the same deranged fanboy lies and hatred. It is sick, evil, demented, and needs to be removed from the internet.

Driveclub got great gameplay impressions at E3 2014, Gamescom 2014, and the recent beta test.

There are tons of positive impressions of Driveclub’s gameplay readily available on the internet yet people keep spreading FUD and blind hate about it.

Project Cars has “up to 100 cars”, or about the same number as Driveclub.

Interview with Project Cars devs. Maybe you should take their answer?

“Ravi Sinha: How many cars and tracks are you planning to have in the final game? Do you have some biggies included?

Driveclub has 97 announced cars. Project Cars has “up to 100 cars” announced, or about the same number as Driveclub.

Between breaks on the ps4 version of shadow of mordor I played horizon 2 on x1. Yesterday was a good day lol. Anyways, Yea the game is stunning and the sense of speed is incredible. The visuals would be great for a normal racing game but horizon is open world making it even more impressive
