After a rough couple of years, EA SPORTS has been working towards building a solid foundation for NBA Live’s gameplay. While the gameplay side of things has a ways to go, the game is desperately in need of the return of OTP & the EASBA.
Since the announcement of NBA Live 16, EA SPORTS has pushed the hashtag #RiseTogether for the game. Their messaging and the inclusion of the word “together” strongly implies that they’re bringing OTP back to the franchise. Online team play is a much beloved feature from past iterations, and it’s the perfect mode to bring depth & replayability to a title that sorely lacks it.
NBA Live 16 bringing back OTP would allow them to give their fans a reason to play their Rising Star mode. The creation of a player in Rising Star mode would then be used in OTP, which ultimately drives users back to the game each & every day.
EA SPORTS previously planned to roll out a mode called EASBA that was essentially OTP on steroids. Players would have been able to have custom teams with other friends who have created players, have custom jerseys, and possibly even custom courts. There’s a ton of potential for the return of OTP, but don’t be surprised if EA SPORTS also looks at a mode to challenge 2K’s Park mode.
